So yesterday (Friday) I wasn’t even planning to go to the gym, I slept late due to personal reasons, and frankly did not get a good night sleep, but when I woke up I checked the weather forecast, and it said that the next day was going to be quite hot, that was enough to make me change my plans and just go to the gym that day (Friday), so I prepare a couple eggs and potatoes, drink a big cup of coffee and head to the gym.

When I get to the bench I start the usual warm up, 135x10 paused, 185x3 paused, then I go onto my work sets, it was a 3x? then some paused work kind of day, so I load 225, and my goal was to hit 7-8 reps today, boom first set an easy 225x9, so I’m thinking “That was easy fuck it I’m going for the 315 today”, load up 255 for a single, flies up, then 275 for another single, boom flies up, one last warm up my friend suggests, so I load 295, gets a little slow near the top, but I get it way easier than the last time I tried, no butt off the bench gimmick, then I start getting ready for my 315 attempt, load it up, rest for 5-6+ minutes, crank up my music, then go for it…, spotter unracks for me, I get the weight on my hands, it’s definitely heavy, I can feel the difference those mere 20lbs made, I lower the bar, and it went down really fast, it was hard to control, or maybe I just didn’t expect it, It was a nasty grind, butt comes off the bench around near the middle of the lift, but regardless I am counting it. Now my friend suggests I go back into focusing on volume again, so no more 1RM attempts for me for a while, at least until I feel I can do more than 315.
